NOT LOOKING GOOD. World aluminum production underperforms, outlook deteriorates

 

Summary. World primary aluminum production slowed down further in July as China’s capacity replacement efforts dented output and ROW’s production expansions underdelivered on delayed ramp-ups in India, Mozal’s likely closure, and slow Europe’s restart activity. In this context, we expect world primary production growth to underperform and lose momentum in 2026 and 2027.
