Scrap Aluminum Market Tightness, Shrinking Spreads and Outlook

Scrap tightness remains. Hoarding is more frequently seen as holders of scrap wait with conviction for higher prices. The spreads between scrap and alloys, and between alloys and prime are unusually shrinking. Meanwhile China, India, Mexico, and Brazil appetite for scrap continues to grow, although Chinese buyers seem recently to have reduced their demand on perception of "high prices" and government policy uncertainty.
